Cabernet Franc 2019 by Vino Dessera

Nice oak integration- a very good Cab Franc example.

If you like dark, rich, complex Cabernet Franc, then this is one worth hunting down.

I previously wasn't much of a CF kind of person -they always seemed to be too one dimensional - especially compared to CF's well known offsprings- Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon (both derived from the more primal CF). But I can say that the terrior of the Thrace region has create a few Cab. Francs that I enjoy.

One of the first wines I drank from Vino Dessera near Kirlareli was this 2019 VD a few years back and I was impressed. The acidity, tannin, sweet balance in this wine was just right for me.

This CF for me tended more towards darker berry than strawberry and the green pepper common to CF was perhaps present here in more pleasing ways to me like cedar, tobacco, and spicy pepper and chocolate. I suspect the unique climate of Thrace results in a unique Turkish expression of this variety.

Overall the oak, tannins, acidity and fruit extraction of this wine was extremely balanced and this one definetly exceeded my expectations.
