This is the place that the founders found where they might pursue their love of one grape in particular Zinfandel, which they learned to love in California, but understood its origin is likely somewhere in Asia minor as so many other cultivated wine grapes.
Bodrum Wine: The Grape Varieties at Karnas Vineyards - the home of Zinfandel?
Karnas Vineyard takes pride in cultivating three particular grape varieties which are not the most common in wine grape varieties in Turkey, showcasing the true essence of Bodrum wine. Among the notable grape varieties grown at Karnas are the aforementioned Zinfandel, Syrah, Vermentino, and Cabernet Franc. Each grape contributes its unique personality to the wines, reflecting the terroir and craftsmanship that go into producing them. While the Zinfandel is excellent and one of only two that I know of in Turkey, the Syrah at Karnas is even better - I recommend them both.

The vineyards are located 1okm from the Bodrum airport along the way to Bodrum city center (about 25 mins away). It makes a great escape in the summer evenings.
