Solon Attica Shiraz (2016)
7 Bilgeler Vineyards. Excellent wine. Very good Shiraz example with best of the oak integrated.
There are several varietals made by 7 Bilgeler Vineyards. This was one of my initial tastings as I really appreciate the boldness of Shiraz / Syrah.
These wines come predominantly the vineyard adjacent to the winery, and the wines ferment around 15 days and then spend 8 months in French oak. This time allows a distinct oaky ness but not artificially so.
The flavors is dense yet lively. This is moderately complex. The finish is longish and full bodied, with plum, cherry and a bit of pepper/ spice. One friend noted cinnamon, but I'd say there is clear spicyness in the well integrated body. Tannins are round.
While I haven't tried it myself yet the 2020 is supposed to be even better.
