İsabey Bağları & Bağevi (Isabey Vineyards & Winehouse) Sevilen

A delight in Izmir! So easy to visit with amazing white wines and red wines.

Their labels come with built-in directions, showing the latitude and longitude of the Isabey Vineyards- N 38º15'44.3" E 27º09'56.5". But its really simpler than that this beautiful winery and restaurant are located amidst Sauvignon Blanc vines just 8 minutes away from the Izmir International Airport. Making this a must visit for anyone flyng in and out of there. Isabey is a label of the Sevilen brand.

Sevilen is a family winery since 1942 when the grandfather of current owners immigrated bringing his winemaking knowledge from Bulgaria. (The Izmir region has many Balkan Turkish immigrants). With 160 hectars of vineyards around both their restaurant/winery but also further inland at 900 m, they have capitalized on consultancy form the French wine specialist, Florent Dumeau. The result is a wide, complex and excellent range of wines from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Merlot, Grenache, Cinsault, Carignan, Gamay, Fume' Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillion, to local varieties such as Narince, Bornova Misketi, Sultaniye, Karasakiz, Öküzgözü, Boğazkere, Kalecik Karasi,

The wines are all above average to excellent. though with such a wide production they cover many price points. Recommendable higher end labels/ varieties include: Centum Syrah or Cabernet Franc, Magnesia Cabernet Franc, Isabey Sauvignon Blanc, 900 Fume Blanc, 900 Petit Verdot,

The restaurant and wineshop are beautiful and due to close proximity to Izmir always bustling with guests. The wineshop is gorgeous and a fun place to wander and wonder around.

The restaurant has an excellent menu and highly recommended as the perfect way to enjoy a bottle of your preferred Sevilen wines.

Here are a few images from their lovely vineyards.
